Welcome to Block #4: Local Star, from our Saturday Sampler 2014, Sew and Tell Series.
Our block patterns will be posted on the 2nd Saturday of each month, so check back through the year to make all twelve sampler blocks with us.

Our blocks are 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" (12" x 12" finished)
All seam allowances are 1/4".
What to Cut:
A/G: Breakers Blue:
A: (1) 3 5/16” x 3 5/16 ”
G: (8) 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”, cut in half diagonally
B: Corn Yellow:
B: (2) 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”, cut in half diagonally
C: Peapod:
C: (4) 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”, cut in half diagonally
D: Royal:
D: (2) 4 7/8” x 4 7/8”, cut in half diagonally
E/F: Orange:
E: (4) 3 5/16” x 3 5/16 ”
F: (4) 2 1/2” x 2 1/2”
Cut the Royal Blue 4 7/8” x 4 7/8” squares in half diagonally.
Cut the Breakers Blue, Corn Yellow, and Peapod 2 7/8” x 2 7/8 in half diagonally.
Arrange the B: Corn Yellow triangles around the A: 3 5/16” Breakers Blue square.
Sew one yellow triangle to each side of the blue square.
Trim unit to measure 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". Make 1 unit.
Repeat same process using two C: Peapod triangles and two G: Breakers Blue triangles
Trim unit to measure 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". Make four units.
Arrange two Breakers Blue triangles, a 2 1/2" orange square, and a Royal Blue triangle as shown.
Sew a Breakers Blue triangle to one side of the orange square.
Sew another Breakers Blue triangle to the adjacent side of the orange square.
Trim excess "bunny-ears" to create a straight edge.
Sew the unit created above to the Royal Blue triangle.
Trim unit to 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". Make four units.
Arrange block units as shown below.
Sew units into rows.
Sew rows together.
Block should measure 12 1/2" x 12 1/2".
